StudyTime is designed so your study data stays on your Mac.
Data the app stores
StudyTime stores the terms, courses, activities, locations, sessions, active-time intervals, targets, completion details, focus ratings, and notes that you enter. It also stores local settings and timer heartbeats used for crash recovery.
Where that data goes
The app keeps this information in its sandboxed local storage. StudyTime does not send it to us or to a third party. The app has no account system, cloud sync, advertising, analytics, telemetry, or remote service.
macOS features
If you allow notifications, StudyTime uses local notifications to ask whether to resume after wake or unlock. If you enable Launch at Login, macOS manages that setting. Neither feature sends your study history anywhere.
Optional website blocking
If you enable distraction blocking, StudyTime asks macOS to install and approve an Apple Network Extension content filter. The filter compares website host names against the services and custom domains you selected, entirely on your Mac. It runs only while an active study interval is running and turns off when the timer pauses or finishes. It supports Safari, Chrome, Arc, Opera, Edge, and Brave, and fails open if StudyTime stops communicating.
StudyTime stores your blocking preferences and sends a payload-free local signal so it can show a “Stay focused” message. Host names used for open connections are held only in the extension's memory. It does not retain visited URLs, browsing history, page content, or blocking analytics, and it never sends browsing information to us or a third party. A local heartbeat makes the filter fail open if StudyTime stops communicating.
Exports and backups
CSV exports and JSON backups are created only when you ask. You choose where those files are saved and are responsible for protecting or deleting copies outside the app.
This website
This website has no accounts, analytics, advertising, or contact form. Its hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as an IP address, to deliver and secure the site under the provider’s own privacy terms. Website request information is never connected to StudyTime’s local app data.
Your choices
You can edit or delete sessions, disable website blocking, change individual blocked services, export your information, or reset the app and request removal of its system extension. Contact support with privacy questions.
